As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting bike shops and mechanics, Shimano and Madison has just finished delivering training workshops across the UK and Ireland.
The Shimano Service Centre Regional Tour was put on by Madison over a two month period to bring educational opportunities to as many bicycle mechanics as possible. The Tour took place between 25th March and 29th May with 12 training sessions split across six venues that spanned the country including Surrey, Bristol, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Glasgow and Dublin.
In total, 115 mechanics received new product training from Shimano Head of Training, Julian Thrasher with support from the Shimano Technical Team and Madison sales managers. Topics included were Drop Bar CUES, new XTR and XT Di2, Shimano information sources, the Shimano Service portal and Shimano E-Bike Systems.
Julian Thrasher, Shimano Head of Training at Madison, said: “The in-person training allows us to pass on the personal knowledge and experience we have when it comes to working on Shimano products. The ability to share hints and tips that may not necessarily be obvious from the manuals whilst getting hands on with the product is what helps mechanics feel confident and efficient in their work. We must also remember that we are a community and it was great to see Dealers not only talking about what they had learned from the training but also ‘talking shop’ and sharing best practices.”
Jamie from Pedal Power West Calder who attended the Glasgow training, said: “A very informative day with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Although the day was very focused there was plenty of time to explore other issues relevant to our everyday experiences with Shimano improving the service we offer our customers.”
